About Mrs. McGuirt

I am honored to serve as the inaugural principal of Rex Road Elementary School. With more than 20 years in elementary education, I have had the privilege of serving as a classroom teacher, instructional leader, assistant principal, and principal. I began my administrative career at Lufkin Road Middle School, later served as principal at Beaverdam Elementary, and in 2025 was named the founding principal of Rex Road.

I believe schools are more than places where students learn—they are places where students belong. My vision for Rex Road is to cultivate a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is celebrated for their unique strengths, every voice is heard, and each student is inspired to develop a lifelong love of learning.

A special part of our culture at Rex Road is the “Marigold Effect.” In education, new teachers are encouraged to find their “marigold”—someone who lifts them up, encourages them, and helps them grow. But the marigold effect isn’t just for teachers. It’s for all of us. We all need marigolds in our lives—and we all have the opportunity to be that marigold for someone else. That’s why we’ve woven a marigold into our mascot, as a daily reminder to look for the good in others, support one another, and create a school community where everyone can flourish.

My husband, Regan, and I have been married for over 20 years and have three children, along with our sweet French Bulldog, Jellybean. I am grateful every day to partner with our families as we work together to ensure the success of every student, every day.
